I don't know exactly what you are expected to do with playlists? I guess people tend to populate them with their current preferred songs and then play them more or less randomly. But I am an old fashioned guy who usually listen to complete albums in title order...

This being said something I like about the playlist is that it tracks what you have listened which is sometimes funny to look at (if you do this on a long period I mean). Before I clean it up, the content of my current Amarok playlist with albums played from June (?) to now:
